Dwa-552 Xtreme N Wireless Pci Adapter Work On Windows 10

Windows
Today I bought this adapter to wirelessly connect my desktop to my router. After installing the newest drivers from the D-Link website, the device is found under network adapters in my device manager, and in properties it says that it is working correctly. However it doesn't detect networks at all! Whenever I uninstall and reinstall the drivers it will show me a list of networks with correct signal strengths, but I cannot connect to them. After refreshing 10 seconds later it shows nothing.
My router is 802.11g and is running on channel 11 (as per the advice from live support) and the card is 802.11n. I don't think this should be an issue, is it? But for whatever reason I cannot connect to the internet with this adapter. Please help!
UPDATE: Now it is detecting networks, although the range is much more limited than my $20 USB dongle adapter. I even managed to connect to my router for about 30 seconds, but it was very slow (google took about 20 seconds to load, whereas it normally takes 1-2). Now I cannot connect again. Any help?
UPDATE: It isn't detecting any networks anymore.
Router is SMC-D3GN

Dwa-552 Xtreme N Wireless Pci Adapter Work On Windows 10 1

It is a D-Link DWA-552 Xtreme Wireless N Adapter. To install the Atheros 'Windows Update' latest driver to see if that would work, to no avail. I recently purchased this network card, and I've been having many problems. I got the DWA-552 Wireless Manager software, which when I close it.wlan-drivers-for-windows-7-and-vista-x86-x64/) which ended up leaving me.
