Binding Of Isaac Rebirth Strategy
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is a remade version of the original rogue-like indie game, The Binding of Isaac, created to update the content and quality while keeping the core of the game intact. It is an action-adventure game where you control Isaac and kill enemies with his tears, descending to lower floors as you (and your enemies) grow more powerful with each floor.
Story of Isaac[edit]
The story is told upon starting the game. Isaac and his mother lived peacefully, until one day a voice from above told his mother that Isaac was corrupt and needed to be saved. The mother decided that Isaac would then no longer have anything that was evil in his life by removing objects Isaac could possibly derive pleasure from, such as toys. Again, the voice came, and told her that Isaac was still corrupt, that he was to be sealed away so that evil could not reach him. His mother did just that and locked Isaac away into his room. One last time, the voice had come to Isaac's mother, and told her that to prove her devotion, he would need a sacrifice: Isaac. Thankfully, Isaac heard this through a crack in his door and began looking around for places to hide. Underneath his rug was a trap door leading to the basement, and so he jumped down. That is where our story begins.
Controls and UI
[edit]
The Lost is the ultimate challenge in The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. He has bad stats and can never have health, which means he will always die in one hit. But The Lost also unlocks some of the best and most fun items in the game and is needed to get the final achievement, True Platinum God. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is the ultimate of remakes with an all-new highly efficient game engine, all-new hand-drawn pixel style artwork, highly polished visual effects, all-new soundtrack and audio by Ridiculon, and hundreds upon hundreds of designs, redesigns and re-tuned enhancements by series creator, Edmund McMillen. Feb 28, 2015 - Dtoid community blogger Corduroy Turtle offers some strategies for achieving 100% completion in The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.
Before I explain the numbers and what they're associated with, I'll elaborate on the default basic controls first:
- Moving: WASD or D-Pad/Left Analog Stick - Moves Isaac in target direction
- Attacking: Arrow Keys or Right Analog Stick - Causes Isaac to shoot out tears in target direction
- Use Bomb: E, R1 (PS4), L-Trigger (PS Vita) - Places a bomb at your location which explodes after a few seconds
- Use Item: Spacebar, R2 (PS4), Select (PS Vita) - Uses the item that you have in your possesion
- Use Pills/Tarot Cards: Q, L1 (PS4), R-Trigger (PS Vita) - Uses any pills or tarot cards that you have

- Coins/Bombs/Keys
- Usable Items
- Your heart meter
- This shows specific traits the floor may have, such as being on Hard difficulty shown by a small satanic sign
- This only appears at the beginning of floors, and tells you what floor you are on and whether or not it is XL

- Isaac
- Trinkets
- Pills/Tarot Cards

What is the 'goal' of Binding of Isaac: Rebirth?[edit]
The goal of the game is to collect various items by defeating bosses or finding them in Treasure Rooms, going down each floor until you eventually meet and kill Mom. There are more floors and bosses beyond this, but you'll just have to play the game to find out (or go to the bosses section of the wiki).
Greed mode is a new game mode introduced in the Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth expansion. The final boss in the mode is Ultra Greed, an ultra large version of the Greed enemy we know and love!
The floors of Greed Mode are generally static, it is composed of a main arena, a Shop, a Treasure Room, a Curse Room, an opened Treasure Room, a Super Secret Room, a Devil Deal/Angel Room, and an exit room.

The way the mode works is simple: You press a button in the main room and that spawns enemies in timed waves. Pressing the button once more will stop the waves from spawning, but will deal half a heart of damage to you. If you defeat a wave before the time runs out, it will automatically spawn a new wave. If you don't defeat the enemies before the time ends, the next wave will spawn anyways. Each time you start a new wave, the game will place some coins near the button. Each new wave also counts as entering a new room, so you will get charges for any active items as you start new waves.
After eight waves, you will have to press the button again to fight two more waves, both of which will contain bosses. After you defeat those, you can fight an optional eleventh wave to fight another special boss wave which will open the Devil Deal Room/Angel Room in the bottom left corner of the area. After that, you move onto the next floor by heading into the room that is the most south until you reach The Shop, which will not have any treasure rooms but otherwise contain the same layout.

The final floor will then only have three rooms: the empty room you start out in, a room above that with usually a Monstro or some Greeds. The final room will contain the Ultra Greed boss, which after you defeat you can donate coins to the Greed Machine which can unlock various things, including a new character.
The general strategy to completing Greed Mode easily is to always pick up the item in the opened Treasure Room that has a silver crown on the minimap. Then, whenever you have extra keys, be sure to open the regular Treasure Room for another item. The Shop in Greed Mode is very special, it usually is very randomized with different room layouts that could be useful depending on the situation.
If you can pick up items such as Book of Belial or Lusty Blood, whose effects last the entire length you are in a room, then it will be greatly beneficial for the main arena, as you can technically stay in the room as long as you want fighting enemies before looking into the other rooms. As a tip, it's recommended to avoid the Sacrifice Rooms unless you have extra health you don't need or think your run might end without risking it. Be sure to not waste all of your money on the shops before the final room, because the main point of playing Greed Mode will be to deposit money into the Greed Machine at the end of the run.
Ultra Greed[edit]
Ultra Greed is a very interesting fight because he, along with the other boss found in the Afterbirth DLC, the Hush, are bosses that appear to have a high amount of health most of the time. Basically, damage is capped against him and most of the time you will not be doing that much damage to him even though you might have easily defeated any bosses prior. This means that damaging the boss is very difficult.

All of his attacks (listed below) deal a full heart of damage and also make you drop coins when hit, which he can then walk over them to disappear and heal himself for a bit of health. Ultra Greed will turn red when he heals or is on low health, increasing his attack and movement speed. Once you beat the boss, he will turn into a golden statue and drop the chest you can use to end the run and the Greed Machine, which you can deposit coins in for rewards (rewards found below).
- Stomps on the ground four times, spawning a Keeper enemy with each stomp.
- Charges at Isaac.
- Shoots coin projectiles from his mouth, either in an organized patterns or in a burst like Monstro.
- Spins around the room, firing coin projectiles in random directions.
- His eyes turn into a slot machine and whatever his eyes land on will spawn coins that have differing effects based on what they land on, the symbols being hearts, bombs, and keys. If the two of them end up being different symbols, he will just spawn some coins in the room that won't do anything. If they end up being bomb coins, they will blow up if not destroyed. If they end up being heart coins, they will heal him for each one not destroyed. If they end up being key coins, they will open the golden doors around the room if not destroyed, spawning Greed Gaper enemies from the doors in the area.
- If there are too many enemies or coins, Ultra Greed will hold a defensive stat and take less damage from the player's attacks.
As for the Greed Machine, all the rewards can be viewed below.

Greed Machine Tips[edit]
There are ways to very easily reduce the time it takes to get all the coins into the Greed Machine, as normally it takes very long due to the risk of the machine breaking down like normal donation machines.
If you have any of your own tips or tricks, be sure to either edit the page and add them in yourself or comment below!
GLOWING HOUR GLASS CHEESE[edit]
It might be difficult to acquire, but if you can get the Glowing Hour Glass item in the Shop before fighting Ultra Greed, you will have effectively have the ability to put as many coins into the Greed Machine as you want, from 0 to 1000 coins easily.
The Glowing Hour Glass item resets your character to exactly how they and the game were one room back, except it does not reset donations but does reset machine jammings! However, in order for us to bypass the jammings, you will need to have infinite rerolls using the Glass. A very easy way to do this is by having The Battery or the Habit items along with the Glass.
So the cheese is simple: Kill Ultra Greed, donate as much as you can until the machine jams, and then reset. You will have to defeat Ultra Greed multiple times, but you will not have to run through the entire game mode simply to get to the Greed Machine. If you have the Chaos Card, you can easily kill Ultra Greed by simply throwing it and it will reappear when you use the Glowing Hour Glass.
Another method is to get around Ultra Greed fight multiple times is to get the Fool Card, kill Ultra Greed, as he dies run to the bottom of the area where the door was, but don't donate. Then, use the Fool Card, head back into the Ultra Greed room, donate, and then use the Glowing Hour Glass. Then you can repeat as necessary until you reach 1000 coins!
