I was responsible for a caseload of 30-50 seriously mentally ill patients in a clinic setting. This included initial assessment, implementing a treatment plan to be able to identify client's needs so that they may be able to function at their optimum level in the community, outreach to monitor client's progress, work with the psychiatrist and report any changes in client's mental status and medication compliance, and provide crisis intervention as needed. I also administered medications and performed lab work. My duties also included assisting in the admission and discharge of clients to and from the hospital. This job could become very stressful at times trying to keep up with the client and the large amount of paperwork. I enjoyed working at region ten until they decided to rearrange the clinical setting in the agency. Management could have included feedback from supervisors, psychiatrists, and case managers since we worked closely with the clients. I did, however, was able to gain knowledge about mental health and the nurse's role as an important asset within the agency.
